Why choosing pretend play is a good choice?

Why choosing pretend play is a good choice?

Young children learn a lot through imagination. During a role-play or 'pretend to play' your little flamingo develops enormously. How come? Read more in our blog!

For example, thanks to 'pretend play' they learn to solve problems playfully, to work together, and to think flexibly. For example, while they play doctor, they also process more difficult moments. In addition, role-play stimulates language development, social-emotional development, and motor development. And honestly, what could be nicer than to observe your child while he/she is cooking in the toy kitchen?

Our favorite pretend play toys can be found below! 😍

What's cooking?

Children love to imitate their mommies and daddies. While the parents are cooking in the kitchen, the mini chefs conjure up their favorite food on the table.

A toy kitchen is used in most kindergarten classes, but it is also a great educational tool at home!

Buy a play kitchen? An ideal gift for the second birthday or St. or Christmas.

Important: When buying a kitchen, make sure that it is okay for a certain age, luckily most kitchens in our webshop are ideal from 2 years. You can also extend the legs of some kitchens. 😊

Why bring a play kitchen into your home?

- It's good for motor skills! There are also a lot of wooden fruit and vegetable sets that you can cut in half "as if" and stick together again with velcro.

- It is good for language development. Your toddler will learn a lot of words with it and will also learn the colors by playing with different fruits and vegetables. Your toddler/preschooler will also learn verbs faster.

Math development: your toddler will learn numbers, weights, and quantities. How much fits in the oven? Does this wooden sandwich fit on the plate, etc...

As your child grows, he/she will imitate more and more. Now you can also become more and more part of the role play, because "Mommy also likes a cup of coffee!"

Don't you immediately want to go for a large kitchen in the play or living room? Then a smaller item can also be nice: an ice cream stall, wooden coffee maker, or toaster.

Let's play mother and father

The cutest thing to see: how your child plays mother or father with their dolls. Playing with dolls makes your child creative and increases social skills. Children learn to interact with others and increase their empathy.

Also, children often get comfort by often holding or hugging their doll (or stuffed animal). For 1 to 2-year-olds, a doll can be a nice gift to encourage the first role play; bottle feeding, imitating mom/dad with brother or sister,

From the age of 3, children already understand very well that a doll needs care and you can also give accessories, doll beds, and other doll stuff as a bonus.

Ideal for fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination: a real workbench or toolset is ideal for children from 3 years. With a workbench or toolbox, they will learn more about action-reaction ("how does this work?") and gain insight into technology. Who doesn't want to do odd jobs, just like mom and dad!?

Discover the joy of making and repairing things with this wooden toolset from Plantoys, even with a real spirit level!

Say 'aa'

A dentist or doctor visit coming up? Let your child get used to playing with a doctor's set.

An ideal icebreaker if your child is a bit afraid of an examination but also nice to learn the parts of the body. Bet they don't fear the doctor anymore? 😊

Planning a dentist visit? The nice wooden set from Plantoys is also ideal for introducing your child to the dentist. Or how about a wooden vet set? 😁
